Choate Engineering has applied their precision craftsmanship not only to precisely engineer this crate engine but also to improve upon the OE. Featuring full CNC blueprint machining, this engine boasts incredibly precise engineering. Choate mains bore and line hones the crankshaft to align it precisely with the engine block, ensuring frictionless operation. They bore the block back to the crankshaft centerline and hone it to an RA13 finish to further reduce friction. The cylinder block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower to meet or exceed factory specifications in flatness and smoothness for the block-to-head sealing surface.

Choate also ensures that common issues with the OE 6.7L won't occur with their 6.7L Short Block Workhorse Engine. For example, the OE 6.7L is prone to head problems, with valve seats falling out and contacting the piston, causing catastrophic failures. Choate addresses this by using machined oversized valve seats with a crease press fit. Another issue remedied by Choate is the OE stamped gallery plugs in the heads blowing out oil and coolant, leading to bearing destruction. Choate utilizes head and insert threaded plugs to ensure this never happens with their 6.7L Short Block Workhorse Engine.
