Choate's solution involves machining for the correct clearances and using upgraded bearings designed to handle higher levels of stress. Another common problem is the separation of OE exhaust valves, which can lead to lost compression and piston contact, resulting in catastrophic failure. To prevent this, Choate uses heavy-duty valves that can withstand high heat without separating. Additionally, cam tunnel misalignment is common in the OE 6.7L.
