Powers Your Heavy-Duty Tasks
The 5.9L Cummins is a legendary powerhouse known for powering some of the most rugged and reliable trucks. Choate Engineering takes it to the next level with their 5.9L Workhorse Long Block. The 5.9L Workhorse Long Block was built for those who need the capability to regularly tow heavy loads and need an engine to keep up with their heavy-duty jobs. Featuring several excellent upgrades over the Daily Driver model, including O-Ringed Heads, Billet Flex Plate, Coated, Fly Cut and Delipped Pistons, Stage 2 Cam, Chromoly Pushrods, and Welded Cam Gear. The Choate Engineering 5.9L Workhorse Long Block is ready to power the toughest jobs you can throw at it.
Upgraded with Power and Reliability
Choate Engineering engineers this heavy-duty Long Block engine to be a significant leap in reliability and performance over the OE 5.9L. Choate Engineering utilizes CNC blueprinting to line hone the crankshaft, aligning it precisely with the engine block and ensuring frictionless operation. The 5.9L Workhorse Long Block features new head gaskets, injector cups, freeze plugs, valve guides and seals, grind valves, and O-ring heads. Choate's 5.9L Workhorse Long Block is also fully balanced.
Furthermore, Choate Engineering addresses common issues with the OE 5.9L to ensure they won't occur with their 5.9L Workhorse Long Block. In the OE 5.9L, valve seats may fallout, contacting the piston which causes catastrophic failure. To remedy this, Choate machines oversized valve seats with a creased press-fit area. Another prevalent issue is the blowout of stamped gallery plugs in the heads, leading to a mixture of oil and coolant and destroying bearings. Choate addresses this by threading the head and using threaded plugs in their 5.9L to prevent such occurrences. Additionally, freeze plugs in the OE block may blow out, potentially leaving the engine stranded on the roadside or, at worst, with severe overheating requiring remanufacturing. To mitigate this, Choate includes billet freeze plugs that are blowout-proof. Experience ultimate performance and reliability with Choate Engineering's 5.9L Workhorse Long Block.
