The Factor 55 Short Drum Competition Hawse Fairlead Creates Less Stress on Synthetic Rope
Any off-road ready vehicle is going to have a winch on the front of it. If your off-road vehicle has a short drum winch that uses synthetic rope, then the Factor 55 Short Drum Competition Hawse Fairlead is going to be your next upgrade. Rather than using a fairlead that will wear down your rope every time you need to do a high angular out off the grid, use a fairlead that puts less strain on the rope, so you can get a reliable pull every time. This fairlead features a larger outer fillet radius, which creates less of a stress on the rope fibers. The rope slides against the thick aluminum bar smoothly without being pulled apart. Having your rope be at full strength every time ensures a reliable pull that will save you from the inevitable recovery situations.
1" Thick USA 6000 Series Aluminum Bar
The Factor 55 Short Drum Competition Hawse Fairlead features a CNC machined, 1" thick USA 6000 series aluminum bar that is stronger than the industry standard fairlead thickness of .75". It is the first Hawse fairlead to be compatible with larger ½" diameter rope tube thimbles. This is possible because the rope slot height opening is taller, which allows this thicker size rope to pass through. If you use your winch as a front suspension "suck down" device, the machined outer corner chamfer will take a lot of the extra stress off of your rope. To create the best surface that will last long and work best for rope sliding on it, this fairlead is finished with a durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gun metal gray hard anodized finish and then engraved with the Factor 55 logo. This finishing coat was chosen to resist abrasion damage, provide hardness close to that of a diamond, and create low friction to reduce rope heat.
Fitment: Universal
Important Note: Always confirm that the synthetic rope cannot make contact to any sharp edges like the opening the steel fairlead mounting plate or bumper opening. In some cases it may be required to grind this slot larger. Always sand and deburr this opening after any grinding operation.
