Improves Upon the OE 6.7L Cummins

Choate Engineering set out to not only craft a heavy-duty, reliable engine but also improve upon the OE 6.7L. Featuring full CNC blueprint machining, this engine boasts incredibly precise engineering. Choate mains bore and line hones the crankshaft to align it precisely with the engine block, ensuring frictionless operation. They bore the block back to the crankshaft centerline and hone it to an RA13 finish to further reduce friction. The cylinder block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower to meet or exceed factory specifications in flatness and smoothness for the block-to-head sealing surface.

Choate has addressed the most significant issues with the OE 6.7L so they won't occur with their 6.7L Cummins Long Block Workhorse. The OE 6.7L is prone to head problems, where the valve seats fall out and contact the piston, causing catastrophic failures. Choate addresses this by integrating machined oversized valve seats with a crease press fit. Another issue fixed by Choate is the OE use of stamped gallery plugs resulting in the heads blowing out oil and coolant, leading to bearing destruction. Choate utilizes head and insert threaded plugs to ensure this never happens with their 6.7L Cummins Long Block Workhorse.
