Recognized for its straightforward design, Choate's 6.6L Duramax LMM Long Block Daily Driver is a remarkably dependable engine built to endure thousands of miles. Perfect for occasional towing duties, it effortlessly handles daily commutes, ensuring a smooth journey.

Precise Engineering for Longevity

Choate Engineering has applied their precision craftsmanship not only to meticulously engineer this crate engine but also to improve reliability over the OE 6.6L. Utilizing full CNC blueprint machining, this engine exemplifies incredibly precise engineering. Choate meticulously aligns the crankshaft with the engine block through precise boring and line honing, ensuring flawless operation. They bore the block back to the crankshaft centerline and hone it to an RA13 finish, further reducing friction. The cylinder block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower, exceeding factory specifications in flatness and smoothness for the block-to-head sealing surface. Additionally, Choate includes a new rear main seal, new bed seals, a new rear cover gasket, a pickup tube O-ring, and a rear cover. Upgraded pistons, new OE lifters, lifter guides, OE Crank Flange bolts, and the updated 9.800 OE pushrods are also included. The Crankshaft undergoes balancing and inspection for runout. Choate has truly gone above and beyond with their 6.6L Duramax LMM Long Block Daily Driver to ensure its reliability and durability.

Application Notes:
  • Choate encourages the customers to fix the cooling issues and update the LLY with the larger later year model LBZ fan and radiator.
  • Optional Parts are not installed. Optional parts are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty and not by Choate.

Build Features:
  • We bore the block back to the crankshaft center line and hone the block to RA13 finish.
  • The piston diameter measured to the nearest .0001 inch matched to cylinder bores.
  • The Cylinder block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower, which meets the factory specification in both flatness and smoothness for the block to head sealing surface.
  • Connecting Rods, New Damper and Flex plate for Automatic transmission.
  • Check both wrist pin and crank pin to rod clearances
  • New upgraded Pistons .10 – .30 inch over – New Pistons, Rings, Pin retainers weight matched prior to crank balancing
  • New OE lifters, lifter guides, OE Crank Flange Bolts, updated 9.800 OE Pushrods
  • Crankshaft – Balanced with the Rotational assembly checked for run-out inspected for fatigue.
  • Crankshaft is Polished and ground to .0005 concentricity or less
  • Camshaft – Polished and Inspected
