Dependable Daily Driver
Known for powering some of the most durable and rugged trucks, the 5.9L Cummins has earned its fantastic reputation. Choate's 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block is no different and is ready to power your adventures for thousands of miles. The 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block was built for those who want a fun spirited daily driver that is still capable of consumer level towing. Featuring several upgrades over the Model C, including head studs, Valve seats, torque plate honing, a fully balanced engine, oil pans and welded crank gear. The Choate Engineering 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block was built to be a dependable engine for your daily tasks.
Built for Durability and Reliability
Choate Engineering utilizes their craftsmanship not only to engineer this heavy-duty short block engine but also to improve upon the OE. Featuring CNC blueprint machining, this engine boasts incredibly precise engineering. Choate uses CNC blueprinting to line hone the crankshaft to align it precisely with the engine block, ensuring frictionless operation. They bore the block back to the crankshaft centerline and hone it to an RA13 finish to further reduce friction. The cylinder block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower to meet or exceed factory specifications in flatness and smoothness for the block-to-head sealing surface. Additionally, Choate includes a new rear main seal, new bed seals, a new rear cover gasket, a pickup tube O-ring, and a rear cover. Choate's 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block is fully balanced and ready to power your heavy-duty tasks.
Choate Engineering also tackles common issues with the OE 5.9L won't happen with their 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block. In the OE 5.9L, the valve seats fallout contacting the piston and cause catastrophic failure. Choate machines oversize valve seats with a creased press-fit area to remedy this issue. Another issue that plagues the OE is the stamped gallery plugs in the heads blow out causing a mixture of oil and coolant, destroying the bearings. Choate threads the head and uses threaded plugs to ensure the issue is not present in their 5.9L. Freeze plugs in the OE block blow out leaving you stranded on the side of the road, at worst, with a severely overheated engine in need of remanufacturing, to fix this Choate includes billet freeze plugs that are blowout-proof. It's clear that the 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block by Choate engineering is a reliable engine for your daily tasks.
