Reliable and Upgraded 5.9L
Choate Engineering's 5.9L Full Running Daily Driver provides significant improvements in reliability and durability compared to the OE 5.9L. Choate Engineering employs CNC blueprinting to precisely align the crankshaft with the engine block, ensuring smooth and frictionless operation. They bore the block back to the crankshaft centerline and hone it to an RA13 finish to further minimize friction. The cylinder block is meticulously surfaced to an RA30 finish or lower, exceeding factory specifications for flatness and smoothness on the block-to-head sealing surface. Additionally, Choate Engineering includes a new rear main seal, new bed seals, a new rear cover gasket, a pickup tube gasket, and a rear cover. Choate's 5.9L Full Running Daily Driver comes fully balanced.
Choate Engineering fixes common issues found in the OE 5.9L to ensure they don't happen with their 5.9L Full Running Daily Driver. In the OE 5.9L, valve seats may come loose, hitting the piston and causing severe damage. To prevent this, Choate machines oversized valve seats with a reinforced press-fit area. Another common problem is blown-out gallery plugs in the heads, leading to oil and coolant mixing and damaging bearings. Choate solves this by threading the head and using threaded plugs in their 5.9L to avoid such issues. Additionally, OE freeze plugs might blow out, causing engine breakdowns. Choate includes blowout-proof billet freeze plugs to prevent this. Clearly, Choate Engineering's 5.9L Full Running Daily Driver is a fun to daily drive and equally reliable engine.
